A 100-strong team from Cardiff Council will run this year’s Cardiff Half Marathon in distinctive orange T-shirts.
The group will be the largest corporate team in this year’s event on Sunday, October 1 which takes runners past some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks, beautiful scenery and historic buildings.
The team includes fosters carers, social workers, young people who have experienced foster care and Council staff as well as the Leader of the Council, Cllr Huw Thomas.
Cllr Thomas said: “I am really pleased to have the chance to dust off my running shoes to draw attention to the incredibly important work the fostering service do. I hope that by taking part in the Half Marathon, the Fostering Service Running Team can spread the message that we need carers of every kind to start fostering in Cardiff and how rewarding it can be.”
Foster carer Anthony Crothers said: “I’m running for the Fostering Service Team in order to do my bit in raising awareness of the service and of the challenges facing looked after children. My wife Elaine and I have been foster carers for 17 years and I am also on the Skills to Foster Training Team, so it’s a cause close to my heart.”
