The 11th Annual Bright Sparks Awards Ceremony took place on October 27th in County Hall. Over 250 people attended the event, which was for the first time presented entirely by the young people of the Bright Sparks Club.
Awards were presented to looked after children and young people to celebrate their achievements in higher and further education, sport, volunteering and performance.
Sue Edwards (pictured) was awarded Foster Carer of the year and Rhian Colledge was awarded the Corporate Parent Award for her amazing work in the Parks Department.
Special awards were given to Soraya Zajac and her brother Jordan McDonnell for running in the Cardiff Half Marathon as part of Team Foster.
A new award was created in memory of a young person who passed away earlier this year, and it will be awarded every year for Bravery. This year the award went to his carer for her outstanding support to him.
We had four fabulous performances from some very talented young people who sang and danced – Cardiff has got Talent!
Lots of people entered into the Spooky Spirit and came dressed for Halloween. The last award was given to a foster family and their looked after child for their wonderful costumes – they came as the Adams Family.
